Bio
Common Ground is Long Island’s premier party rock band, playing the classic hits and the “lost hits” from the 1980’s MTV Generation! Common Ground is best known for their high energy live sets, frequently receiving accolades for song selection and live performance. CG has an extensive song portfolio and they cover many musical genres.
Common Ground “CG” was formed in 2013 by guitarist John LaCorte. The concept around the band name is twofold - CG relates to the appeal of the music to a wide variety of people, and speaks to the dynamics of band members finding “common ground” in musical direction and vision.
The origin of the band dates all the way back to 2003- when LaCorte joined local band 11 Ways, which featured the strong lead singer duo of Rob and Perry Cuni. The band played the local Long Island club scene for over a decade. When the band split up in 2012, LaCorte formed CG, carefully selecting positive attitude, high energy and talented musicians to join the new project. In addition to reuniting with the Cuni brothers, the current lineup includes keyboardist Jeff Naness, drummer Rob Noxious and bassist Rich Bente. In 2023 the band added female lead singer Laurie Munch Dz to the lineup.
In 2017- CG was honored to be selected to open for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Blondie at the Tilles Center. You can catch Common Ground at many of Long Island’s top bars and venues. The seasoned group of musicians have shared the stage with members of Zebra, Rainbow, and Nine Days.
